Today I am going to show you how to create your own tinted lip balm. So lets get started. You will need the following items:
Step 1. Using spoon take small amount if vaseline and put it in the lip balm container.
You can use any old lip balm container that is about to finish and clean it with a clean cloth. You can also get a new container, it is available on many online stores.
Step 2: Take any unused lipstick, and cut some portion of it using the spoon and put it in the same container, in which you had put vaseline. Any shade will do, I used a very old pink lipstick which I had stopped using long time ago.
Step 3: Using your spatula and toothpick just mix the vaseline and lipstick together. You can also heat it or microwave it for 3-4 secs, so that it melts a little bit. Remeber not to heat it for more than 5 secs.I didnt even heat it. It mixes easily even without heating. Just make sure that the two are mixed very well.
Step 4: Now test the lip balm by swatching on the back of your hand. You may add more vaseline or lipstcick depending on your preference of how strong a tint you want.I prefer a very light tint.Mix the two very well, you should not be able to identify between liptick and vaseline. The consistency of the color should be uniform throughout.
Step 5: Once you are satisfied with the consistency and the tint, add cosmetic glitters of your choice.I prefer to use the glitters of the same shade as the lipstick. In my case I added pink cosmetic glitters.
Make sure to use glitters of good quality and only cosmetic ones. Some of the brands that make cosmetic glitters are : Faces, Coastal Scents.
Now, you can test the tinted lip balm and add more glitters if needed.You can also decorate the lip balm container to add your personalized touch. I pasted some smiley on the cap :).
So, you are now ready with your home made tinted lip balm.Enjoy!
